Teaching Generations Z and Alpha mean more than adapting familiar classroom routines. These age groups think, learn and engage with the world in fundamentally different ways, calling for a new educational mindset, new professional competences and a broader pedagogical toolkit. In this interactive workshop, participants will exchange experiences and good practices, learn from one another and explore effective responses to this rapidly evolving challenge.

This 90-minute workshop will explore the skills and competences needed in VET to support the green transition, with a particular focus on the often-overlooked connection between mental health, well-being and environmental sustainability. We will highlight why a supportive environment and practical methods that promote mental well-being are essential for enabling learners and educators to focus on sustainability and become active drivers of change. The workshop will present good practices, selected KA2 projects and concrete methods and tools that can be applied in VET sector. Participants will also have the opportunity to reflect on how these approaches can be integrated into their own educational practice.

The Varga Márton School is a unique horticultural centre-located VET institute in the heart of Budapest. Students here study landscape gardening and land surveying as a full-time education programme. The school serves as the national training base for the Hungarian Landscape Gardening Skills competitions, working with highly successful young professionals, including WorldSkills bronze medallists and EuroSkills champions in landscape gardening. At the heart of the school lies a two-hectare garden including greenhouses and a Japanese Garden, which was the first official Japanese garden in Hungary. During the visit, participants will also have the opportunity to explore this beautiful and unique garden space.

Budapest Technical VET Centre Petrik Lajos Bilingual Vocational School is a secondary technical school located in Budapest (Hungary). It offers vocational education in chemistry, environmental protection and information technology. Students combine general secondary education with specialised theoretical and practical training in their chosen sector. The school places a strong emphasis on innovation, project-based learning and the creative use of digital technologies across different subjects. Its bilingual education and active participation in international projects provide students and teachers with valuable opportunities for cooperation, professional development and intercultural learning.

The Creative and Handicrafts Technical School of the Budapest Complex Vocational Centre, which was founded nearly 70 years ago, is one of the largest institutions in Hungary, focusing on the trades in the creative sector. It offers a wide range of training including graphic designer, fashion, costume and set designer, creative photographer, movie and animation maker, fashion dressmaker, leather craftsman, goldsmith, and dental technician. The school maintains an extensive professional network with art universities, companies, and cultural institutions, which contributes to students' outstanding national and international competition results. Moreover, the school provides a certified technician training program launched jointly with Moholy-Nagy Art University for its students.

At Bánki Donát Technical Secondary School of Budapest Mechanical Vocational Centre, our goal is to provide our students with modern, practical professional knowledge and real work-based experience, empowering them to confidently manage the challenges of the labour market.

A key component of our educational toolkit is a project-based approach, which turns learning into an engaging experience and allows students to grow through their own ideas, direct experience, and real-world tasks. Students have numerous opportunities to convert their knowledge into practice in meaningful professional settings, as demonstrated by our involvement in the Budapest–Bamako Rally project and our participation in Óbuda University’s electric bus development programme.

One of the excellent opportunities is the Erasmus+ programme, through which our students gain valuable professional and international experience working at foreign companies in authentic work environments.
